The CIPR provides technical assistance and consultation directly to Indigenous communities seeking to

formalize and operationalize their governance structures. Indigenous communities engage in nation-building

efforts for a variety of needs ranging from preserving their culture, to pursuing economic development

opportunities for the tribe.

 

Nation building needs may include:

• Researching and drafting tribal constitutions

• Researching and drafting tribal codes

• Drafting 25 C.F.R. § 83 petitions for federal acknowledgement
